Bob's Vintage Cars
We purchased our Cabo Rico 38 sailboat (renamed Capella) in August 2020 from the 86 year old previous owner. It had a brand new zero hour engine when we bought it and the survey shows it was a solid boat that needed some TLC for many systems. In 2021 I have replace the Wind, Depth, and Speed instruments. Rebuilt or replaced every pump to include one of the two electric bilge pumps, manual bilge pump, fresh water pump, shower sump, and replaced the manual sanitation overboard pump with an electric macerator version. Installed a new Battery Changer / Inverter that came with the boat and replace all batteries with new Group 31 AGM batteries. Converted all Navigation and interior lights to LED. Replace the Main, Genoa, and Staysail Halyards. Replace all sanitation and associated vent hoses, manual head pump, Y-Valve. Replace the galley, shower, and head sink faucets and rebuilt the galley manual water pump. Replaced the bimini canvas. I also bought a new Puffin fiberglass Dinghy, antique 1972 British Seagull Feather Light motor and Kato Bay II Davits. The Dinghy's name is Dubhe, after the star at the tip of the cup of the big dipper. Sighting from the end of the big dipper handle across Dubhe twice the length of the entire big dipper points to Capella.
As you can see there was not time for sailing in 2021, but sailing the Chesapeake is planned to start in 2022.
